We are delighted to announce that Gareth Rees will be our club captain for the 2019 season.
Gareth has been a key player for the Stags over the past two seasons, scoring over 1000 runs for the club, and will take over the reins from Chris Thorne.
'Gums', as he's affectionately known, joined the club in 2017 from Port Talbot and played a crucial role in our promotion to Division One of the South Wales Premier League. A former Glamorgan cricketer, he's been a key figure on the field in recent seasons, and as a club we're delighted that he's agreed to lead the team this coming summer.
Chris bows out as captain after being at the helm for the past six seasons, which culminated in us retaining our Premier League status in 2018 for the first time since its inception.
During his tenure, the club also won the Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League in 2014 and the South Wales Premier League Division Two in 2017, as well as enduring a traumatic and dramatic last-day relegation in 2015. Following the club's recent AGM, Chris will now oversee the structure and development of senior cricket at the club.
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Gareth and Chris on their appointments and thank them for their continued hard work.
